There are all sorts of different ways to move teeth. All teeth move the same way, it's by pressure. You can push on them or you can pull on them, and it depends on what you want to do, how you're going to do it. We use traditional braces, which are metal attachments onto the teeth.

You can apply a force either way, pulling or pushing. We use light wires that are very, literally space age wires. They've got very low deflection rates and they're very light. You almost don't feel them working. We've got colored and clear brackets so that you can have assortments of that. Clear brackets are just the same as the metal ones, just a different material. Then we've got Invisalign products, and Invisalign products are removable aligners. They're clear. Through a series of events every two weeks you change them out, but the interesting thing with them is is you can only push with plastic. You have to think things a little bit different.

At the end of all that, if you've got a skeletal malformation I've been on the hospital staff at Boca Hospital for thirty five years or something like that. We can move jaws around and move bones around if we have to. I've got the complete scheme of services for you. Haven't been in the hospital too much in the last few years but it's been fun.

Orthodontics covers a lot of treatments, but they all work toward the same goal: to get your smile even, aligned, and beautiful. But with all of the options available, you might not be sure which orthodontic services are right for you. Below are some common questions and their answers to help you navigate through the orthodontic treatments offered at our Boca Raton, FL office.

Q: What Types Of Braces Do You Offer?
A: Because everyone is different, we offer several types of braces. Our ceramic dental braces are good if you want a reliable, traditional option but without all the metal. (The wires will still be metal, however.) Self-ligating braces can do the work faster and without any bands, and because they are placed behind your teeth, they are almost impossible to see. And our Invisalign clear plastic aligners cannot be beat for convenience and invisibility. Call us today at 561-391-6415 to see which option would work best for you.

Q: Do You Offer The “Clear Braces” I’ve Heard About?
A: Yes. When people ask about clear braces, they are usually referring to clear plastic aligners. These look similar to a thin mouthpiece and are worn over your teeth. Over time, they slowly but steadily move your teeth to where they belong, just like our ceramic braces do. But because they are made from clear plastic that fits over your teeth, they are practically invisible. We use Invisalign clear plastic aligners, which work for both teens and adults.

Q: Can Invisalign Work For Teens Or Just Adults?
A: We offer a special version of our Invisalign clear plastic aligners just for teenagers. Invisalign Teen aligners include a special dot that helps teens know when to change them out. And in case not all adult teeth have come in yet, the aligners can be created with special spaces to allow for that.

Q: Is Invisalign Only For Teens?
A: Absolutely not! Our regular Invisalign clear plastic aligners can be considered an excellent alternative to braces for adults. Not only do they gently move your teeth to give you an even, beautiful smile, but they are almost impossible to see when you are wearing them. This way, you don’t have the embarrassment of braces and wires on your teeth at your age.

Q: Do My Braces Have To Be Painful?
A: While braces do take a little time to get used to, they should not hurt. If you are worried about pain, however, you might need our self-ligating braces. These skip ligatures — the small, elastic bands — for a different kind of wire. Not only can these braces get results in less time, but they also are generally easier on the mouth and can cause less pain.

Q: Help! What Can I Do About An Emergency With My Braces?
A: The first thing you should do is call us at 561-391-6415 so we can help. If you have an orthodontic emergency like a broken wire, loose bracket, or painful cuts, we usually can see you the same day you call. Until you can be seen, use dental wax (available in most drugstores) to cover wires or brackets that are hurting you. And if you are bleeding and cannot stop it, go to an emergency room immediately.

Q: Do I Have To Wait Until My Teeth Are Very Crooked?
A: Prevention is always key to saving time and money, so it makes sense to use preventive orthodontics before problems get out of hand. It’s recommended that children be screened for orthodontic needs by 7 years old. This way, we can help with overbites, underbites, missing teeth, and more.
