You Deserve Comprehensive Orthodontic Care

  • May 2, 2016

Our motto is “Personalized care that helps self-esteem soar.”

We want our patients to feel great about their smiles and about themselves when they complete their orthodontic treatment.

We help children in ways that may minimize or eliminate the need for Phase II orthodontic care. We help teenagers who are dealing with alignment problems. We have helped several adults who decided they want straight teeth for personal and professional reasons, too.

Dr. Robert A. Eckelson, is an orthodontic specialist who has been helping people for more than 40 years. Today, he is putting his knowledge and experience to work to provide comprehensive orthodontic care for patients in and around Boca Raton.

Knowing Your Options

People have known for a long time that teeth can be moved. The ancient Romans wrote about using their fingers to physically push teeth into new positions. Since then, people have developed a variety of tools to push and pull teeth so they line up straighter.

Today, we offer a range of orthodontic treatments for our patients. We provide many kinds of braces and treatments, like Invisalign, which foregoes brackets and wires altogether.

We can help you find the treatment that will be effective for you or someone you love.

You may have worn braces when you were a teenager, and you may be concerned about what your children’s experience will be like. You don’t need to worry. We offer high-tech treatments and techniques that make orthodontic care as comfortable as can be.

Types of Braces

Traditional braces use metal brackets and wires to move your teeth. The brackets are attached to the teeth. The wire is used to apply pressure to the teeth to push or pull them as needed.

Our space-age wires are lighter than the ones used in older braces.

We offer ceramic braces for patients who don’t want a lot of metal in their mouths. These braces have brackets that are clear, which makes them more discreet than traditional metal braces.

Patients may want to ask about self-ligating braces, too. These are less bulky than traditional braces, and they do not require individual ties to assist in moving your teeth. These can be more comfortable and, in some cases, work faster than other braces.

What if you are self-conscious about having braces on your teeth? One option is to get lingual braces. Lingual means “relating to, near, or on the side toward the tongue.”

These braces are placed on the back of your teeth. This makes them much less noticeable than traditional braces.

Invisalign

Sometimes Invisalign has been referred to as “clear braces,” although that’s a bit of a misnomer.

Braces use brackets and wires to push or pull your teeth. Invisalign uses transparent plastic aligners to push your teeth where you want them to go.

Invisalign patients receive a series of aligners to wear. You replace your aligner approximately every two weeks. Each time you change aligners, you will know that your teeth are a little closer to being straight.

One benefit of using Invisalign is that it is clear. Because of this, many people will never realize you are wearing them during your treatment.

Preventive Care

We encourage parents to bring their children to our office around the age of 7. When we can identify alignment problems early, we often can intervene.

Preventive care could reduce the severity of your child’s misalignment. This kind of intervention may eliminate the need for Phase II orthodontic treatment for some patients.

Emergency Care

Wires break. Brackets come loose. You could receive cuts or other problems.

Our team will see you as soon as we can if such an emergency does arise. Like you, we want to resolve those problems as quickly as we can.

Frankly, this is a service that we hope you will never need. Nevertheless, you can count on us to be here if an orthodontic dental emergency should arise.
